Online petitions to the Prime Minister

Today I seem to have gone on a bit of a online petition rampage... browsing facebook whilst I nurtured a hangover, I came across this petition to give photographers more rights. Terrorism and paedophiles are gaining more public attention and photographers are becoming targets for police and public officials. More and more instances of police stopping and searching innocent photographers are ocurring, insisting they delete the photos they've taken and generally victimising photography hobbyists. Anyone with anything more than a camera phone are becoming 'potential security threats' in the police's eyes, so the petition requests the goverment to clarify the laws surrounding photography in public places. London Underground has even launched a poster campaign urging the public to shop anyone who seems to be taking photos suspiciously. The whole situation makes for a difficult climate for photographers (espeicllay those of us with SLRs) to enjoy their hobby. Naturally, I chose to make my mark and encourage you all to do so too. You can read more about the poster campaign here.

I also signed another petition to allow the red arrows to fly at the 2012 olympics. It's ridiculous that the red arrows aren't being permitted to give a display. The reason being that The Department of Media, Culture and Sport deemed the aerial display team as 'too British' and that the red arrows military background may be offensive to other countries. The olympic games are being held in London, in BRITAIN... this country's obession with not offending any other race or culture (other than their own of course) borders on total idiocy. So, if you feel the same, please sign this petition too!

A notion after my own heart.. let's all stop apologising for being British, or at least apologise for it first and then do it anyway.

Sorry about the bother old chap but I'll be boarding your ship if you don't mind... what's that? you DO mind... tough titties! And just for that show of bad form I'll be taking all yer booty and yer Rum HAR HAR AAAAAAARRRRRRRR!!!!!

Yo Ho Yo Ho A pirate's life for me!

I'm a british... no ENGLISH Pirate and not afraid to admit it!

Not that I want to stir up any controversy but we still seem to be sending our athletes to China and entering that particular political sticky spot, in my opinion the red arrows (a celebratory and recreational 'force') can hardly be classed as offensive.
What will be next, are we to stop firing the cannon salute in case we upset any member of one of the countries that we might have used them against in history? That will be a long list, better get those apologies ready.
