Let's go day glo!!

What with the recent 80's revival that seems to be rearing it's Ray Banned be-spectacled head at the moment, I thought I'd highlight a few choice pieces that have caught my eye for all you 80's babies!

Toy Watch
These bad boys are bright, bold and very cool. Spotted on a friend's wrist this week, I ooh'ed and aah'ed over her 'Atomic Orange' time piece. Toy Watch are a US brand who make day-glo, chunky plastic watches. Reminiscent of the Baby G's of the 90's and over sized Swatch Watches of the 80's, they are definitely in keeping with the 80's look. Perfect for summer and available in a range of colours, they are available online here as well as Selfridges. Be warned though, as with anything endorsed by the likes of Oprah, Madonna, Sienna Miller, Clive Owen, Jessica Alba, Owen Wilson, Uma Thurman and Katie Holmes, they don't come cheap! Costing a hefty £115 upwards, some may argue it's a big price tag for something made of plastic... but I shall certainly be saving my pennies for one of my own! Now to choose which colour...

Wayfarer Ray Bans
Yes, you've seen all the celebs wearing them. From Kirsten Dunst to Kylie, everyone seems to be sporting a pair. The key is to jack the black.... go for coloured Wayfarers if you want to look the part. If you're not feeling so adventurous, a pair of white Wayfarers may be the way to go, but if you're feeling really brave try bright red! Of course, a real pair of Ray Bans can set you back a couple hundred smackers, so if your Toy Watch purchase cleared out your bank account, go for some ASOS look-a-like's for £8.

The best (???) of the rest
If you're a real die hard 80's fan, puff ball skirts, leg warmers and Frankie says relax t-shirts are ALL back in... with dubious results. Personally, I'd go for a few selective retro pieces rather than an all out Adam Ant wannabe fashion statement. As mentioned in previous Squat blog posts, retro Nikes a la Marty McFly are definitely the way to go over a Global Hypercolour T-Shirt... but it's all about individual style. If you can work it, wear it!
