On the buses...

Im sitting on the bus as i write this (the novelty of mobile blogging obviously hasnt worn off) killing time. It struck me as i sat on a rather warm seat next to a man smelling of stale cigarettes, that i hadnt yet blogged about my joyous journey to work via london transport's alternative to the tube.

Every morning, i see the same faces. It seems like no matter who you are, or where you live, you will inevitably encounter your obligatory crazy. Living where i do, i seem to be blessed with a wider array of eccentrics to make the early morning drudgery more entertaining. Take, for example, the man i have mentally renamed indie. Every morning, rain or shine, he gets on the bus wearing a black leather indiana jones-esque hat complete with tassel. Very fetching and probably very useful when you possibly wash your hair once a month...

Then you have the very over worked and over tired commuter who falls asleep like a baby in the back of the car, which is fine when their head lolls over towards the window (which i must point out i would never lean against thanks to people like mr sleepy and mr indie... A combination of the two has resulted in a generous smearing of hair gel, wax and god knows what else across the glass), but Isnt so humourous to watch when his head rolls the other way and you have to cough very loudly hoping theyll wake up... Because disturbing his sleep by ACTUALLY waking him up is so very unbritish...

And then lastly you get the golden oldie, the person every office worker is confronted with without fail... mr stinky. Whether it's cigarettes, foul body odour, or bad breath, youll be forced to sit next to someone who has not yet learnt the virtues of deodorant, toothpaste and chewing gum. Ill admit, tube commuters have the short straw here with a sea of stinky armpits in the height of summer. Being armpit height in august on the northern line sucks, believe me I know. But, all that said, i wont complain, i only endure an hour a day... and i wouldnt have anything to blog about without those wonderful people. Plus, it gave me something to keep me occupied for the entire journey and i just walked in to work!

Although I'd agree with your observations. It is amusing when you put into words on your blog.
