World's oldest blogger passes away

Reading blogs is one of my biggest pass times, the online equivalent of flicking through magazines I guess. There's millions of blogs out there on a whole host of different topics, some specialised, some general, some interesting and some mundane, but who actually takes an interest in the people behind the blog? Most bloggers savour their anonimity, using their online world of me to write about things that maybe they wouldn't be free to discuss in person. But whether faceless or not, some bloggers achieve cyber fame nonetheless, whether through notoriety or popularity. So it always catches my eye when I read about a blogger rather than the blog itself... gaining an insight into the human behind the html.

Olive Riley was featured on Sky News this week, hailed as the oldest known blogger. She recently passed away at the age of 108. Olive had been blogging since February 2007, and is proof to the older generation that the internet isn't the reserve of the young. So, today I'm linking to Olive's blog and will be having a read in her memory. It's only a shame technology wasn't around to record all the wonderful things I'm sure she experienced in the past century. I can only hope I'll still be blogging in 80 years time and that people will still want to read.
