A day of endings...

Last night the shocking news that Michael Jackson had passed away broke. Floods of facebook status's and twitters were posted all over the world. Obviously, this morning's metro newspaperr had the story on the front page... although spare a thought for Charlie's Angel Farrah Fawcett, who also passed away yesterday. I feel slightly sorry for her fans and loved ones as her passing has been overshadowed by the king of pop's demise, pushing her from early print editions of the news front page, to page 9.

It seems interesting that MJ's music seems to gloss over his alleged paedo-tendancies, with a global outpouring of sympathy messages. I have to admit, it makes me wonder if Gary Glitter's pop hits had been more of a success, and he popped his clogs, would people remember him with nostalgia and fondness rather than a child molester? The fact that Michael Jackson was never charged seems to be justification enough that he was innocent for the majority of the population. Personally I reserve judgement. But, like the rest of the world, I set aside his personal innapropriate and strange flaws and excentricities, and admit that musically, he was a genius and a legend. It seems a shame that he passed whilst in an uphill struggle to regain his crown, financially, emotionally, and it seems physically, challenged.

And it may seem inappropriate, but I can't help wondering... has he been cryogenically frozen, waiting to be re-animated to perform for future generations?? Who knows... Like Elvis... maybe he's not dead afterall...
