Finally, 6 hours of blissful sleep
So after 2 years and 9 months, we've finally perfected the art of getting the maximum amount of sleep with a toddler. Now SY has dropped her day time nap (which has its own problems!) she's tired enough that "I'm just going to the toilet/going to make a cup of tea and I'll be back" is excuse enough to slip out of her bedroom and not have to sit next to her bed until she's dropped off. She FINALLY sleeps through more often than not, and if she does wake up, it's a quick case of pat pat it's middle of the night go back to sleep and crawl out on hands and creep into bed with minimum fuss. Mornings are still a challenge (especially now it's light at 5am!) as she's usually up at 5:30am, but we can usually stretch out our lie in til 6:30 with the help of an iPhone, YouTube, playdoh review videos and Barbie life in the dream house cartoons. Thank god for YouTube (childless adults that are shaking their heads tutting and thinking "I'll never let my child watch so much TV, you have NO idea what you'll do for sleep...!).
So on a good day, we'll have a decent 6 hours unbroken sleep... just in time to go through it all again with a newborn who will wake up every 2 hours. Ahhh remind me why we decided to have another?!
