Pension problems? Fred's getting £16million...
It's shocking that ex-RBS Boss Sir Fred is declining to give up his sizeable pension after the bank required a £20billion cash injection to keep it going... it's even more shocking that his pension pay out is £16million! In a country where our elderly are struggling to make ends meet on a measly £1047 a year, how can anyone justify a single individual receiving £693,000 annually?! This case alone speaks volumes on how city bosses have grown fat from the public's money, when everyone else struggles to make ends meet.
I personally am confident that I am certainly not paying anywhere near enough into my private pension to support me in old age. It's a fine balance between roughing it now and struggling to save for a deposit on your first home, and ensuring you have enough money to survive once you retire. To see whether you're going to be living off stale crusts and tap water once you turn 65, take a look at the pensions calculator.
Apparently based on what I put into my pension right now, if I want to be living off £500 a month, I'll run out of money by the time I'm 74... better start buying those lottery tickets... there's always hope...
