He's just not that into you
Last night I finally made it to the cinema to see "He's just not that into you". Well, getting IN to the cinema was an experience in itself. Never before have I had to queue to buy the tickets, queue to get up the escalators (it was worse than rush hour on the tube... I almost got crushed and lost my bag of popcorn to the masses!), and queue again to get into the screen... but we eventually sat down to watch the film, and it was worth the wait!
With a jam packed cast, you know the film is on to a winner, with stars like Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, Drew Barrymore (who incidentally was also an executive producer of the film), Scarlett Johanssen and more playing the lead roles. Based on a book, which I now really want to read, the film tells the story of various women in different situations. From the single girl falling for the married man, to the one in a long term relationship waiting for the marriage proposal that will never come, and I have to say it really hits the nail on the head when it comes to dating and the differences between men and women. Women over analyse every action, word, intonation and inflection a guy makes. Guys just aren't that complicated. Fact. The overriding message from the film is this: If a guy wants to be with you, he'll make it happen. If he doesn't call, he's not interested.
Never before have I sat through a film and experienced the audience cheer out loud, laugh, clap and react so vocally to a movie before. It's not your typical soppy love story, where there's the obligatory happy ending, but there is enough to leave you feeling comforted in the fact that sometimes love does work out. It's one of the few films I've seen that gives such a realistic and yet funny and heartwarming account of the modern rules of dating, and I'd definitely go and see it again. But be warned, if you go with your partner, be prepared to laugh when your boyfriend doesn't, and tut when he simultaneously nods in agreement... men and women are very different creatures...
