Skip and a hop!

What is it with kids and skipping? Every morning, I see parents taking their children to school. They hop off the bus, and immediately start skipping along holding their Mum or Dad's hands, not a care in the world. It's not just little girls with pigtails either, even the boys skip.

It got me thinking, when do we stop skipping? When do we get to an age where everything isn't care free anymore, and we progress from a happy bounce in our step to the defeated pounding the pavement with heavy feet? Is it when we start our careers and the daily office grind? I just wonder, when did I stop skipping?
