Google maps
Is it just me that thinks this is very very cool...? Google maps now has an overlay so you can see where the tube runs... I always wondered if the tube map was really accurate (obviously not of course) and where the tube lines actually run along through London... now I know!
It also now has this nifty street view so you can virtually walk through an area, looking at all the buildings and landmarks. Just drag the little orange man in the top left of the map to the point you wish to view at street level. Easy! Unfortunately, although London has been filmed and mapped, due to privacy issues, google can't offer this option for the UK, but more open minded countries such as the states allow you to stroll along Times Square. You can even get street view on your mobile, which is extremely handy if you're as clueless as me, with no sense of direction and rely on landmarks to navigate the most familiar of cities!
