And so it begins...

The march of the swine flu has begun. First, it started as reports in Mexico, and no one paid attention because it wasn't here, it was somewhere else. Then, it spread to the UK, but no one really bothered about it because it was 'up north' not in London... then the death toll started racking up, but still it was just something disconnected from yourself because it was just another news story. Now it's on your door step.

In Hong Kong, people wear masks just to visit the hospital. Over here, people sneeze, cough and splutter without a tissue in sight. I find myself covering my mouth on the train just to avoid average every day cold germs, never mind the killer flu. No wonder it's spreading faster and faster, building momentum. The public's complacency in limiting the spread of germs is astounding. You just know that it'll take one employee in the office to catch it and the entire floor will be off sick in the bat of an eye. Tummy bugs spread fast enough and they'r enot even air borne (I really DON'T want to think about how THOSE get sread at work... *shudder*).

Now Dad's laid up in bed, wheezing and coughing, after being discharged from hospital with a dose of Tamiflu and a cocktail of antibiotics. No test results back yet to say if it is swine flu, but whatever he has, it doesn't sound pleasant! That's how it starts isn't it? A friend of your friend's Mum's cousin catches it, then it's the guy down the road, then it's your sister, your mother, or even *DUM DUM DUM* YOU!

Ok, slightly over dramatic, but I reckon things are going to get a lot worse before they get better, and it's being played down. BIG TIME. How's that for a conspiracy??
