Fired up fun!

Today we had a family fun day out at a local pottery studio called Fired Up. You can have a cup of coffee while you paint a plate! We decided to go and get munchkin's hand and foot print immortalised before she grows up, so chose a nice tile to print them on for our front room (yes we have turned into those cliché parents with the kids hand prints proudly displayed in the house!).

I was a bit worried about just how I was going to pry open munchkin's ever tightly balled fist, cover it with paint and neatly print it into a pristine white piece of ceramic, but luckily she was having a mega mellow moment and it turned out to be easy peasy. Only slight issue was stopping her grabbing her clothes after her hand was slick with paint. Failed slightly on that one. There's now pink glaze all over her trousers. Oops!

Anyway, it was great fun. The studio was packed with parents and their kids sitting round tables painting snowmen money boxes and baubles. We were sat next to the shelves of unpainted pottery, which meant I got to watch the pained look on each parents face as their kids selected the biggest (and most expensive) pieces to paint, whilst their mums dangled much smaller (and cheaper) reindeers and snowmen in front of little disinterested faces! I can't wait to have that battle when munchkin is older! We can bring her to paint a cereal bowl or a mug!

Can't wait to pick up the final fired and glazed piece on Thursday!
